Spectroscopic Investigation on the Effects of Biochar and Soluble Phosphorus on Grass Clipping Vermicomposting

Seeking to evaluate the hypothesis that biochar optimises composting and vermicomposting processes as well their product quality, we carried out field greenhouse experiments. Four grass clipping treatments (only grass, + single superphosphate (SSP), SSP biochar) were evaluated. At end of maturation period (150 days), composts submitted (Eisenia fetida earthworm) for an additional 90 days. Ordinary fine charcoal was selected due its low cost (a by-product production) great availability; this is important since obtained presents commercial value. A greater maturity organic matter (humification) observed in vermicompost compared with compost-only treatments.
